What a Weekend!

So this weekend has been one of the best weekends in a long time.

Friday night: B and I met up with a couple for drinks. We stayed at the bar so long, they kicked us out; and we went to a 24-hour Starbucks till almost 2 in the morning. (What did we do without 24-hour Starbucks?!)

Saturday: Even though I only got 3 hours of sleep, I still managed to make it through work. I took the kids I nanny to Barnes and Noble for “Story Time” and they were absolutely adorable, as usual. I had a half-day at work and went to my friend Marissa’s daughter’s first birthday party! She was so cute in her pink tutu and couldn’t stop smiling!

After the party, B and I sporadically got a couple’s massage. We had been wanting to do this for our Anniversary, but with me working all the time, and him being in Med School, we never got around to planning/executing it.

It was this hole-in-the-wall type of place, but boy was is amazing! The people were so nice and it was absolutely relaxing. Now, it wasn’t as nice as when we got massages in Mexico, but in my opinion, I don’t think you can really go wrong with a massage?

Sunday (today): I got an iMac!!!!!!!

I have a MacBook, but I’ve reeeaaallly been wanting the desktop (21.5-inch) because of it’s large display. My eyes hurt looking at my 13-inch laptop. It was a hefty purchase, but I worked very hard to earn it and I’m very pleased with my decision.

[BTW, I cut back on my hours at work. I was having such a hard time keeping up at home. Six days a week/eight hours a day was too much. Now, I have every other Saturday off, and when I do work Saturdays, it’s for four hours instead of eight. I think I’m going to be a lot happier with this schedule.]

It’s a bummer it’s almost Monday, but I have lots to look forward to this week:
My best friend is coming in town and we’re going (along with B) to see
TAYLOR SWIFT in concert!!!!
I’m super excited, y’all! I’ll be rockin’ out in my cowboy boots and sundress =)

I hope everyone had a safe and happy weekend!

Roses Are Red…

Violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet,
and cupcakes are, too!

I baked/made this cupcake & cookie rose bouquet for a girls-only Valentine’s dinner. Seven of us Med school significant others each brought a different dish; from won tons to turtle bars. We exchanged recipes, played Apples to Apples, and just talked for over five hours. It’s always comforting to talk to other young women who are going through the same situations, and are experiencing similar emotions as me. Although they try, no one can understand what it’s like dating and living with a medical student, unless they’re doing it (or have done it), too. I must say, though, I’m having some of the best & most memorable moments in my life right now!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

My New BFF

Who says money can’t buy friends?! Here’s proof that you can:
Yep, this is my new best friend. I bought her for $30 at a garage sale. She’s a beauty. I’m so excited! B’s mom was in town this weekend for his birthday and helped me get set up. The only sewing experience I have is sewing buttons and years of Pointe shoes, but never anything on a machine. After practicing on some extra fabric I had, I made a little pin cushion (stuffed with cotton balls because it’s all I had), a bandanna for Indy; and I sewed four small patches together (kind of like a quilt). I surprised myself! (I guess it’s all the Martha Stewart I watch.) I was such a nerd, too, because every time I made something I’d run out to show B my “creation.” [hehe]
My boss asked me what a 23-year-old is doing with a sewing machine. I told him I want to be able to make things like curtains, pillows, quilts, etc., and one day baby/kids clothes.
I told my mom I love the way my new sewing machine smells. It smells like a grandma just made a quilt. Ahh… (I know I’m a goofball.) Well, I’ll be sure to post my finished products. I know a lot of you sew out there… what’s your specialty???

Who me? Beautiful Blogger Award?!

So, I’m a little behind on posting this, because a while back Katherine Anne, over at Medical School Mrs., l gave me this blog. If you aren’t familiar with her, visit her blog. She’s precious—love her! The rules of the Beautiful Blogger Award are to share seven interesting things about yourself:
1. I’m an only child and have a love-hate relationship with it.

2. I underwent hypnotherapy because I used to be so afraid of birds-slash-anything-with-wings-slash-feathers. I would have anxiety attacks and wouldn’t even walk around the lake in fear of coming across a duck. No joke. But it worked. I’m no longer scared, but I wouldn’t want one as a pet.

3. I’ve been a dancer since I was three, until I was injured at a dance competition when I was sixteen. I miss it so much.

4. I’m actually pretty shy and I hate that about myself.

5. Before moving out of my parents’ house this summer, I have lived in the same house my entire life. (I miss it, but I totally love living with my boyfriend.)

6. I’ve had the same best friend since I was in kindergarten.

7. Is it weird that I can’t think of another “interesting” things? When I asked B, “What’s interesting about me?” He thought it was a strange question and said, “That’s a tough question. Umm…. you can read fast.” Me: “Really, that’s all you’ve got?” Okay, well, I guess I can read fast. I actually really love to read and I try to read something before I go to bed every night. It eases and clears my mind. One of my goals in life is to write a book. Whether it’s a “chick-lit” or a children’s book, I hope to accomplish this one day.
I hope that was interesting enough for ‘ya!

Watching the Grammys right now… cheering for my girl, T-Swift. I can’t wait to see her performance with a “surprise.” I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Even though I worked today (yes, Sunday) I had a wonderful time at B’s White Coat Ceremony. Post and pics coming soon.

Wishful Wednesday: 3 min

Wishful Wednesday
Kelsey at The Seattle Smith’s topic for Wishful Wednesday is:
‘I wish’… I could spend three minutes in _______’s shoes!
I pick…
TAYLOR SWIFT
Originally I was thinking I would want to spend three minutes in my mom or B’s shoes, so I can see what I’m like from their perspective, but heck! I’d want to have some Taylor-Swift-FUN!

Oh, and another thing… I wouldn’t want to spend just three minutes; I’d want to spend at least 3 days. She looks like she’s always having a blast. From rocking out on stage in sparkly dresses (adore) and cowboy boots (adore even more), to baking cookies with her best friends, and goofing around in panda shirts… She’s always handling herself with such poise and positivity (remember the jerk Kanye?) It’s rare  these days to find a celebrity that young girls can look up to.

One more thing… I just love her hair!! Wouldn’t mind being able to keep it when I come back to reality.
P.S. I can’t wait to go see her in concert (again!) in March with my best friend and boyfriend!
(Well, that was fun!)

Anniverary Pics

If you read my post last week, B and I celebrated three years together. I can’t believe it’s been that long! We went to dinner at a local museum, and believe it or not, we were the only ones in the restaurant! B joked that he rented out the place just for us 🙂 Dinner was delicious, by the way. He had a steak with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies, and I had pan-seared salmon with this amazing tangy-lemon-y sauce, olives, mashed potatoes & veggies. Mmm..mmm…mm…..

After dinner, we went to the Ritz for drinks and dessert. I almost never drink, but their signature item is a chocolate martini and it was fantastic. We shared a molten lava chocolate cake and it was to die for!
Not a whole lot going on today… I had two days off of work in a row (a rare occasion since I normally work six days a week). B’s studying for school (what’s new?!) and I’m hanging out on the couch doing absolutely nothing! Indy got a bath today and he smells like baby powder 🙂 I’m going to post a video of him soon because he’s just too ridiculously cute!

On another note…
Has anyone read “Dear John”? I always try to read the book before the movie.
I’m not going to spoil it or anything, but I was bawling my eyes out! I mean, c’mon… it’s a Nicholas Sparks book. Does he ever write anything that doesn’t make you cry?? I almost don’t want to see the movie because I don’t want to cry all over again, BUT…. HELLO??? Who can resist Channing Tatum’s B-O-D!?!
Anywho… that’s my little guilty pleasure for the day. [Shhh., don’t tell the boyfriend] I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!
