While it’s going to be uber busy and sometimes overwhelming I’m really looking forward to all!the!fun! and memorable events! …Especially since we’ll have our baby girl to share it with! What could be better than that?!

Congratulations to my beautiful sister-in-law, Michelle. Her boyfriend PROPOSED over the weekend! I’m soooo happy for them, and am excited for Michael to be my brother-in-law.

I would tell the story, but I wouldn’t do it justice. Let’s just say, they were slow-dancing by the water and it was p.e.r.f.e.c.t. [So them!]

{fun fact}
Michelle is also my sorority sister, and Michael is Blake’s fraternity brother.
How cool is that?!

I wish them all the best blessings–they’re going to have such a wonderful life together 🙂

Love you, M & M!
Let the fun begin!

Love Story.

Would you believe me if I told you I have not been able to get to my computer because it has been covered with wedding “stuff”? Honest. I have just gotten around to clearing things up. I’m going to try to do my best at not getting so behind on blogging!

So, I’ve made you wait long enough. Here is my love story…

I was planning on going back home to visit my parents for my dad’s birthday. My mom calls me Thursday night to ask if I could come home Friday after work instead of Saturday because she won tickets at work for a behind-the-scenes tour of Epcot on segways. Okay! Sure! Sounds fun. Meanwhile, B said he had a lot of studying to do and really wishes he could come, but he’ll keep the puppy. So, Friday after work, I had dinner with B, then was off for a two-hour drive back home. Saturday morning, my parents and I headed out to Epcot and I was really excited about the tour. We were to meet a man named Pete at 10:30a.m. who was going to take us to the segway tour guide. He drove us behind Epcot to Italy, where apparently the start of the tour was. At this point, the park wasn’t open to the public yet. Pete was talking to us the whole time, asking us if we’ve ever been on segways before.

He leads us to Italy, where there’s a bridge over water with a gondola. It’s all really pretty. He tells us the tour guide should be here any minute. I’m anxious so I’m looking around and instead, what do I see….???

Blake. Coming out from behind a building.

And the look on my face was…
“Babe… what are you doing here?”

Even when I first saw him I honestly didn’t suspect anything. But once he came up to me and grabbed both of my hands, all I could hear was, “Oh my God, Oh my God, is this really happening right now?”
The rest was all kind of a blur… I had to ask him later what he said to me. I was just in shock!
What would an engagement be without some water-works?
So happy and surprised! And in love!
After I said YES! I asked him what he did with the puppy! (lol) And when a Disney photographer was taking our pictures, I asked my mom, “Aren’t we going to be late for the segway tour?” She grins and politely says, “There’s no tour.” Clearly, I was oblivious.

What was really special about the whole day was our parents were there to share our joyous occasion–something I told B a long time ago I’d really like. We spent the whole rest of the day (12 hours!) at Epcot.
Gotta show off the bling ring…
Our engagement was truly memorable and oh-so-special! I never thought B would be able to pull off a surprise like this… I’m too nosey! =P

What a blessed day.

White Coat Ceremony

B’s White Coat Ceremony was a fabulous celebration, to say the least.
I had so much fun cooking and preparing for the brunch I held at our house before the ceremony:
B’s oldest sister got “bear” cookies with little white coats on them. So cute!
I was so proud of him! He’s worked so hard this past semester. I got teary-eyed at the end of the ceremony when all of the first-year’s stood up and we applauded.

It’s nice having a boyfriend who goes to an osteopathic medical school—he already knows how to crack necks. I love the face he’s making while he’s cracking his sister, Michelle’s neck. [oh, brotherly-sisterly love]
Michelle and I having fun in the cadaver lab =)
My parents and me after dinner. I was so happy they came down for the day to celebrate with us.
It couldn’t have been a better day! This past weekend was B’s 23rd birthday and we had another family celebration. 2010 is proving to be a pretty awesome year!

Okay, so sometimes I have all these things I want to blog about, and other times, NADA. Sometimes, randomly throughout the week, I’ll think, Ooohh, I should blog about that! But then when I sit down at my laptop, I have already forgotten what was on my mind! Does this happen to anyone else??

I guess I could start with something that really irked me this week. (Hey, who says blogging always has to be upbeat, right?!) I was running an errand at Wally World and was waiting patiently for a parking spot. This sweet elderly man was taking his dear ‘ole time backing up his Lincoln. I felt really bad because a line was starting to form behind me, but in all fairness, I had my turn signal on. (Plus, I I was starting to inch forward, but this man was making an 8-point turn backing up. Right when I’m about to pull forward even more, this dude from at least two cars back zips in and takes my VIP spot!!! What a rude [insert choice of obscenity here]!!!!!
I know this isn’t the worst thing that could happen, but STILL! I laid on my horn as hard as I could and the jerk never even flinched. I could see the Dear.Old.Man.In.The.Lincoln. shouting something at him. When I passed the old man, he said to me, “What an @$$h0L3!” Thank you, Dear.Old.Man.In.The.Lincoln, for that. It made me feel just a little better.
(thanks for letting me vent)
On a happier note…. B’s White Coat Ceremony is next Saturday! A lot of my followers are Med School Spouses and so you know what this is all about, but for those of you who don’t…. It’s a ritual in medical school that marks the transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences. It can also be looked as a rite of passage. The WCC is a formal “cloaking” of students in, you guessed it, white coats—the select attire physicians have traditionally worn for over 100 years! Some schools hold the WCC at the beginning of the first year, but B’s school holds it at the beginning of the 2nd semester.
I’m really excited for his WCC. His parents and sisters are coming into town, as well as my parents. The only bummer is that his school only gives students three tickets to the ceremony! Three? That’s it?! So unfortunately only his parents and I will attend the WCC, but we’re so grateful everyone is still coming up to celebrate after.
I’ll be sure to post pics, as I know my boy will look oh-so-handsome in his white coat =)

January 13th will be my and B’s THREE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! (yay!) I can’t believe it’s been three years already! Is anyone wondering how we met…? Here’s the love story:

My sorority was having a semi-formal and I didn’t have a date. It was my first big sorority function, having just rushed that semester. My future college roommate at the time told me one of our sisters, who I didn’t really know at the time, said her brother and his friend would be up for going. I talked to her and asked her what her brother looked like (please don’t judge, I’m really not shallow! haha) When I saw his picture, I thought, he’s pretty cute… Okay! I’ll take him. What did I have to lose, right? My sorority sister was going to take his friend. A week before the semi-formal, she took me over to B’s fraternity house to meet him (and his friend) before the actual sorority function. He made us London Broil and mashed potatoes! After my sorority sister had to leave early, B and I just talked for a while and got to know one another.

Here is our first picture together (everyone dresses up in camo and we go to a boondocks bar. It’s so much fun!) Oh, and yes, I had blonde hair:

And the rest is history…. If it weren’t for my sorority sister and B’s sister, we wouldn’t be together. Here’s three years in photos (there were so many it was hard to choose!) Warning: lots of photos up ahead.
Our 2nd semi-formal:

Our 1 year anniversary. He took me this restaurant called Emmanuel’s, located on the 28th floor of Bank of America in downtown Orlando:

I couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend! I’m truly blessed to have B in my life. The past three years have been amazing and I can’t wait for what’s to come!

Winter Kisses & Birthday Wishes

I don’t even know where to start! These last few weeks have been crazy, busy, fun! (I’ll try to make this as short and sweet as possible):

1. B’s parents treated everyone to a weekend getaway at the Grand Cypress near Disney. In case I’ve never mentioned it before, B has two older sisters. Here’s a room with a view, if you ask me:
2. The whole fam went to the coolest mini-golf place ever! It was Disney’s Fantasia-themed. Just a little goofing off with the boy…
3. I took a little break from the resort to support my best friend & sorority sister, Lauren, at her college graduation. I always love when we get to hang out, but wished we lived closer. I can’t wait ‘til we go see Swifty (Taylor Swift) in concert together in March!
4. Back to the resort… On the second night of the weekend we celebrated B’s grandma’s 80th birthday! We jumped on the Disney monorail and hotel-hopped to see the Christmas decorations and watch the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks from the Polynesian. I love this pic of us (even though my eyes look funny from adjusting the red eye. I really need to invest in a better camera).
5. “Goofing” (no pun intended) around at the hotel shops. Only a few hours until my 23rd birthday!
6. One of my favorites. B’s sister volunteered as our photographer and caught this candid. I love it. (Again, new camera needed desperately!)
7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY (and Hanukah) TO ME!!! A fun fact about me… half my family is Christian/Catholic/Baptist and the other half is Jewish. Interesting mix, huh? In my parents’ household we celebrate Hanukah. If we go to West Virginia where my mom’s family is, we celebrate Christmas. And with B’s fam, we celebrate Christmas. At my and B’s house, we had both a Menorah and a Christmas tree. It’s ALL FUN! Here’s a picture of me with one of my Hanukah gifts from my mom. I’ve been swooning over these Victoria’s Secret “Pink loves the Knights” sweats. (Not posting all the pics of my goodies, especially since all the pictures clearly give away that I just rolled out of bed, HA!)
I also got a Longchamp backpack in taupe. I have two other Longchamp bags and just love them!
For my birthday my parents got me this baby (I got the matching ring for my 21st birthday):
One of my other absolute favorite Christmas gifts was from B’s parents. They were so thoughtful and got me a mug with pictures of B and me because they know how much I love to drink hot green tea every morning. On top is says “Live, Laugh, Love.”
8. Finally, we have come to Midnight Mass. B’s mom plays the bells for their church and it’s absolutely beautiful to listen to them. But what a late night! I didn’t get back to my parents’ house until 2 a.m. Then, I had to drive two hours the next morning to be back on the gulf coast to work at noon! Yes, that’s right… I had to work on Christmas. Two year-olds don’t stop, and neither do I!
I hope everyone had a very safe, happy, and blessed holiday and New Years. Welcome 2010! I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Friends + Family = Perfection

Anatomy is officially over! YAY! After two and a half months, B is finally finished with anatomy (and with an A, no less). I’m so proud of him because he really worked hard. People said this was going to be the hardest time (for both of us), but honestly we were able to have dinner together every night, and he plays sports 2-3 nights a week, too. To celebrate the end of anatomy, we went back to see our families. Saturday we went to our college’s football game, where I got to see all my sorority sisters and girlfriends. I really needed some girl time!

It surprisingly got down to the low 50’s, and I was the only one prepared! I brought a jacket and flannel blanket. I love cold football game weather. 97 degree weather, it’s been nice, but it’s time to say, “Bye Bye!”

Sunday was B’s nephew’s first birthday! We celebrated all day and it was absolutely wonderful spending time with his family.

We got his nephew his first wagon. [Puppy not included] Every little boy needs a wagon. He’ll have many adventures with it. B also got him a Sock Monkey (they’re back!) because he had one when he was little. Indy decided to test drive it–gotta make sure it’s safe and FUN! B’s nephew loved his new wagon! He climbed right in and wouldn’t get out!

I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. Friends + Family = Perfection. There’s nothing better than being surround by those you love, and who love you.
